JOHN J. LANNING and ANNIE FINNEY John and Annie, along with their baby boy John Enos, appear to be the first Lannings to settle in the Gilmer County Area in about 1844. After moving there from Buncombe County, NC, they settled in the Turniptown area and raised the rest of their family. John and Annie are buried in the Lanning Family Cemetery along with seven other Lanning Family members. More information is available in the Lanning Story link below.
